A Year at MUMC

Life at Malibu United Methodist Church follows the rhythm of the seasons—moments of joy, reflection, and connection woven throughout the year.
We invite you to explore the calendar below, but here’s a glimpse of what we love most: the laughter and friendly competition of our Pie Festival, the quiet magic of Easter morning on the beach as the sun rises over the ocean, and our Thanksgiving Dinner—one of the longest-running ecumenical gatherings in Malibu, shared in partnership with the Malibu Jewish Center & Synagogue.
These are the moments that bring us together—but they’re only part of the story.

Worship Highlights

ALL SAINTS SUNDAY
All Saints’ Sunday is a time to remember and honor those we have loved and lost.
During worship, we read their names aloud and light candles in their memory—a quiet, meaningful moment shared as a community.
It’s a space for reflection, gratitude, and connection, as we hold these lives in our hearts together.

Easter at Malibu United Methodist Church begins at sunrise on Zuma Beach (6:30am)—coffee in hand, ocean breeze, and a moment of renewal as the day begins.
Then we gather again at 10:30am in the Sanctuary for Easter Worship, followed by a joyful Children’s Easter Egg Hunt. Kids dash across the lawn in search of colorful eggs—each one filled with care (and a bit of mischief) by our amazing teen volunteers.
Whether you join us at the beach or at the church, Easter at MUMC is all about light, laughter, and community—one of the most joyful mornings of the year.

CHRISTMAS
Join us on December 24 at 5pm for our Christmas Eve Candlelight Service—a beautiful evening of music, light, and celebration.
As the sanctuary fills with candlelight, we come together to share in the joy and meaning of Christmas.
All are welcome—families, friends, neighbors—to be part of this simple, peaceful moment, one of the most special nights of the year at MUMC.

Community Favorites

Blessing of the Animals

MAY

The Blessing of the Animals is one of our gentlest gatherings.
Families, children, and their companions—whether furry, feathered, or well-loved stuffed friends—are all welcome as we take a moment to celebrate the bond we share with the creatures in our lives.
Teens can also take part behind the scenes, helping prepare the small medallions given during the blessing.
It’s a simple, light-filled moment of gratitude, laughter, and connection, where everyone belongs—on two legs or four.

Pie Festival

OCTOBER

The Malibu Pie Festival is one of our most joyful traditions—where baking, creativity, and a little friendly competition come together.
From classic favorites to bold, unexpected creations, pies of all kinds fill the tables as our community gathers to taste, share, and celebrate. Whether you’re entering a pie, cheering someone on, or just here for a slice (or two), it’s all about connection and fun.
It’s a day of laughter, homemade goodness, and community spirit—Malibu style.

Thanksgiving Dinner

NOVEMBER

Our Thanksgiving Dinner is a longstanding tradition of gathering, gratitude, and community.
Each year, we come together to share a warm meal—open to all—and to show appreciation for those who work hard every day, often without recognition. It’s a simple but meaningful way of showing up for one another .
There are many ways to take part: help organize, bring a dish to share, contribute food for distribution, support the clothing drive, or simply join us at the table. Our youth also play a special role, helping create a welcoming and beautiful space for everyone.
It’s a moment of generosity, connection, and care—one of the most meaningful gatherings of the year.
