CHILDREN, YOUTH & FAMILY

We are dedicated to offering a safe, fun, nurturing environment helping to shape our community’s children and youth to be responsible and caring adults. Children will experience spiritual growth, ethical choices and community service through such activities as Biblical stories, music, outings and outreach projects such as beach clean-ups, baby blankets for field workers, raising money for disaster relief (“UMCOR” www.umcor.org ), caroling to elders and the housebound, and cooking for the annual Community Thanksgiving Dinner. Fun family events include Cinema in the Courtyard & BBQ, Board Game Nights,

Beach Days, the Pie Festival, Advent Evening, Valentine’s Evening, Las Posadas and community service projects!

MUMC programs are open to all.

ADULT GROUPS

Women’s Retreat

For almost three decades, the women of MUMC have gathered annually for a weekend women’s retreat. We have come to know one another, and to appreciate each other more deeply as we gather. Programs are designed to enlighten and educate, strengthen and clarify, and even entertain, as we strive to be the persons God calls us to be.

Breakfast Club (Adult Bible Study)

Our spiritual journeys are better with companions! Join us Sunday mornings in the Mayhugh building to share breakfast and stories as we encourage and pray for one another and work out what it means to follow Jesus in our everyday lives. The group is open to all, regardless of where you are on your spiritual journey. Topics and series by Adam Hamilton, Andy Stanley, Bob Goff, Reuben Job and others guide our time together.

Democracy & Justice Prayer Circle

We would like to invite you to join us in praying daily for democracy and justice.

We are hoping to have two or three folks praying together at various times throughout the day. If you would like to join our growing circle, please let us know what time of day you will pray. We will add you to our list of growing prayers.  Also, if you have friends near and far who would like to pray with us, they are welcome.

Thanks for thinking about this and making the pledge to pray daily. We hope to fill every hour with many prayers for democracy and justice.

Blessings to you.

Contact us with your first name, the time of day that you are able to pray for democracy and justice and if you have a specific concern.

Email us at Info.MalibuUMC@gmail.com with DEMOCRACY AND JUSTICE in the subject line or call the church office at (310) 457-7505.

MEDITATION

A meditative prayer service that incorporates Taizé-like simple, repetitive song and periods of group silence in a setting of peace and soft light that fosters communion with God. Participants can worship in a community setting yet remain open to the voice of God and discover the prayer within themselves.

THE MALIBU LISTENING POST

listening_front.jpg

We are a group of trained, experienced, empathetic Listeners who greet and listen to our Guests as a caring friend in a safe and quiet place.  We are not therapists.  To have someone listen to us, to be heard, can be refreshing, revitalizing, and healing.  The positive effects of empathetic listening have been validated by scientific research.

The Listening Post has been created to assist those in our community who want to better understand themselves and others while moving toward improved health, wellness, and joy in self, family, and the world. Listening is an offering of the precious gift of heartfelt engagement, it is not therapy.

To request an appointment please contact the Office Administrator at Malibu United Methodist Church 310-457-7505 or via e-mail  TheListeningPostMalibu@gmail.com

The Listening Post is a non-denominational, non-fee community outreach service sponsored by the Malibu United Methodist Church.

“Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around.” -Leo Buscaglia
